WHO WORE IT BETTER?

Julianne Moore vs Stella McCartney in Stella McCartney

By  |

I just love seeing designers rocking their own designs. It’s always fascinating to see how they would wear them. Designer, Stella McCartney wowed in this black chiffon number, from her 2012 resort collection, at the New York City Ballet gala where she received a standing ovation for her costume designs featured in her Fathers first ballet ‘Ocean Kingdom’. Julianne Moore wore the same outfit to the ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love’ world premiere at the Ziegfeld Theatre back in July, 2011, also in New York City.

Stella kept her look chic by adding a plain box clutch and gorgeous little bow velvet heels. They made her look stylish yet reserved. Moore, on the other hand, decided to team her outfit with peep toe sandals and a clutch bag, too, albeit a simple one. If you fancy your own halter neck dress for less why not try this one for a mere £14.99.

In my opinion Moore has ruined her look. There is something so unsatisfying about heels that cut you off at the ankle, making a tall woman look like four foot nothing. And then there’s the hair. A dress with this much going on doesn’t really need anything but a simple up do, something that Stella has perfectly captured.

So, my award goes to Stella. And thank goodness. Because there is nothing more awkward than a designer that doesn’t know how to wear her own clothes.

An absolutely gorgeous dress. It’s a tough one for me cos I think both Stella and Julianne look stunning in the dress. I think Julianne may have just pipped Stella to the post though.
