WHO WORE IT BETTER?
Jessica Biel vs Naomie Harris in Chanel
Nothing screams sophistication like Chanel, and this mini white number is no exception. Such a clever and versatile piece, Chanel’s timeless aesthetic is reflected in this particular garment. It’s neutral white tone and a lightweight knit is a perfect garment to be worn from spring (as when it was featured on the Spring/Summer 2012 catwalk) right through to winter.
So here’s the spring look, sported by Jessica Biel at the MTV awards in June. She makes this dress her own by adding a small pop of colour in the tips of her heels, also paired with a chunky cuff bracelet. But do these items distract from the simple elegance of the dress? I can’t help but be drawn to her green shoe straps.
Then this autumn, Naomie Harris pulled the spring dress out from hibernation, and brought it back to life at the Skyfall Promo Trail in late October. With her Pierre Hardy snakeskin laced shoes and non-existent accessories, the bond girl gave this dress the parade it deserved. As seen in these images, this style of dress is wearable all year round. The Chanel dress isn’t available to buy anymore, however I think this alternative by Reiss (£66) is a brilliant investment buy.
So who wears it better? The blushing Miss Biel in June with her pop of colour, or Naomie keeping it cool and simple this autumn. I have to say, Naomie wins it hands down for me because less is definitely more in this classic dress.
