WHO WORE IT BETTER?
Laura Whitmore VS Rita Ora in Gerard Darel
Rita Ora, the talented voice with a trained eye for fashion, slipped into this silver Gerard Darel suit last month to attend the pre-BRIT Awards 2013. With Rita’s signature backslick complementing her red lips and winged eyeliner she built her foundation for a highly glamorous outfit. Rita looked like a modern Hollywood movie star, sporting a full length, fur-trimmed statement coat, sparkly pointed toe heels which I’m guessing is Christian Louboutin’s Chiarana? Her matching necklace and earrings could rival grandma’s best chandelier.
So what happened when Laura Whitmore made an appearance earlier this week in the same suit? The TRIC Television and Radio Industries Club Awards were in for a treat, when the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here star wore the same silver Gerard Darel suit with a white Topshop crop top. She clearly got ready watching Clueless (circa 1995), and can who blame her? We’ve all been there- we just made sure to change before heading out the door. Even Laura’s tresses seem to have returned to the ‘roots’ of the 90’s, minus the super highlights, slightly textured, straight with bangs hairstyle. Silver jewellery, chunky platform sandals, red quilted bag and black nail varnish… polished off the Clueless look. It’s a classic. The film that is, not Cher Horowitz’s fashion sense.
The beauty of Fashion – is that cycle that continues to go around yet with each turn, still manages to bring a surprise.
WHO WORE IT BETTER? Whenever I see anyone channelling the 90’s decade I’ve disgustedly turned away. We need to be separated by at least a decade, minimum, and I see now that it’s been a case of too much too soon. To my surprise, the world might be ready to welcome back the 90’s, so it’s not without a deep breath for calm and composure I salute you, Laura- You did it right.
