Eva Mendes vs Karen Elson in Gucci

We already know Eva Mendes likes to make a statement with her outfits (did you see her in that Thierry Mugler dress?!). But, I never thought we’d be seeing her all covered up like this! The actress wore this ’70s style Red chiffon dress, from Gucci’s Fall 2011 collection, to the Tribeca Film Festival in April. Karen Elson wore the exact same dress out in New York recently, to the launch of Tonight we Tanqueray. Both girls styled the dress in a similar way, giving the catwalk elaborate neck scarf a miss and replacing the contrast belt with a matching chiffon waistband instead.

This dress is all about layers and volume. That’s why I think Karen Elson has the edge over Eva Mendes. With the blouson sleeves and staggered hem, it’s a bit too much on Eva’s curvy figure. And the scarlet colour is just made for Karen’s fair skin tone. Not everyone can look this hot in red, but if you fancy giving it a go you can buy this Gucci dress for £1670. If your budget can’t stretch that far, you can get a similar Red dress for just £75.
