Carly Rae Jepson vs Miranda Cosgrove in Juicy Couture

I’ve often wondered when it would be appropriate to wear plaid again and how you could pull it off without looking… well, let’s be honest, ridiculous. Carly Rae Jepson, the Canadian singer, decided to go full-out plaid to Ashe Kids Day, a charity tennis event. Carly looks undeniably adorable in this matching plaid top and pleated skirt from the Juicy Couture A/W 2012 collection. Opting for smoky eyes, she paired the look with high top trainers and colour-clashing bracelets to add a bit of pop to the outfit.

We also saw Actress Miranda Cosgrove, taking on the plaid a couple of weeks ago, pairing the top with a black A-line leather skirt and black heels. Miranda also went for smoky eyes and wore bracelets, but chose some classic gold bangles instead. You can get hold of this Juicy Couture top ($158) or give this funky checked shirt (£28) a go.

Carly’s plaid outfit worked very well. The studded collar and belt broke up the pattern just enough. Her accessory choices worked a charm and have even made me lust after some plaid myself! On the other hand, Miranda got her version of the outfit so wrong! The leather skirt added an air of tacky to the top and her heels totally clashed with the outfit, and not in a good way. I’m very surprised that plaid + plaid worked, but it definitely did for me! Who do you think pulled it off better? Vote below.
