Brooklyn Decker vs Olivia Palermo in Zara

Starting on the catwalks of Max Mara and Burberry Prorsum, this fusion of the leather and military trends is proving to be one of this season’s wardrobe must-haves. This is no different within the ‘celebosphere’ where the celebrities have been seen sporting this versatile look throughout this Autumn/Winter 2012 season, in the form of the military parka jacket with leather sleeves.

Being a trendsetter, Brooklyn Decker was way ahead of the rest of us, spotted wearing the Zara take on this jacket at LGA airport in May! The 25 year-old super model looked laid-back and off-duty in skinny jeans and a loose tee. Do I dear to go far enough to say Brooklyn’s pairings with the jacket are a little too effortless verging on boring? I’ll wait for your verdict!

Later on in September, the trend remains in New York when fashionista Olivia Palermo was spotted pairing the jacket also with skinny jeans, this time in Khaki and a loose chiffon top. She finished the outfit with nude Mulberry bow heeled pumps, carrying the military style throughout her look (think Victoria Beckham meets Dries Van Norten).

This Zara jacket is currently sold out. However you can pick up this almost identical version, for £37.99. So does Olivia carry this look with more sophistication, or does Brooklyn steal the style with her easy going persona? I definitely think that Olivia wins this one for myself, by making this not so feminine jacket girly and sophisticated, whilst staying on trend. Vote below and let me know!
