Kristen Stewart vs Kat Von D in Derek Lam

Who would have thought that Kristen Stewart and Kat Von D could be caught wearing the same outfit?! Kristen was the first to wear this red plaid print dress to the Snow White and the Huntsman photo call in Berlin last year. She made the Derek Lam dress her own by wearing it with an Alexander McQueen belt to create curves for her otherwise slim figure. Then she finished off the look with black Christian Louboutin court heels.

Tattoo artist Kat Von D also wore the same dress to the 55th Annual Grammy Awards 2013 in L.A this month. Kat matched the dress with red Alexander McQueen sandals and wore her hair down in loose curls. The Derek Lam plaid print dress is sold out but you can get this Jil Sander plaid wool dress (£336) for a similar look. Or you can get this much cheaper plaid dress (£121) for a more funky take on the look.

I think the red sandals on Kat Von D are a bit too much and don’t really suit the red carpet. Kristen did well to pair the dress with a belt as it brings the outfit together. Also the length and fit of the dress creates a more svelte silhouette on Kristen than it does Kat Von D. For that reason alone, my vote goes to Kristen.
